Bug Description

Binary package hint: lazarus-ide-gtk2

1) sudo apt-get install lazarus
2) Try build simple program with one form. You take error message that not found interface unit.

Workaround:
1) sudo /usr/bin/lazarus-ide
2) In menu Tools => Configure "Build Lazarus"
After this GUI GTK2 project successful compiled.

I think it's not true. Lazarus from repo must work out of box.

I think your bug is also described at http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=580557

There it suggests to install the lcl-gtk2 package. The next update to 0.9.28.2-11 should fix this issue.

I took the liberty of providing a debdif for the this problem and fixing a related problem (no launchpad issue yet) in the same time (from the debian maintainer, yet unreleased). This bug could have been fixed by a sync from Debian, but the other bug will pop up if we don't fix it (non-invasive). Would be great if this could still be fixed in Maverick

lazarus (0.9.28.2-10ubuntu1) maverick; urgency=low

  * Backported two control changes from debian upstream which will be in
0.9.28.2-12 (yet unreleased) to fix (LP: #621905)
+ Fixed a bug causing safe-upgrade to fail because lazarus-ide-qt4
is installed to fix dependencies of lazarus-ide and that Qt based
IDE is not packaged. The lazarus-ide-qt4 now installs the GTK
based IDE by depending on lazarus-ide-gtk until Qt IDE gets
      packaged. (Closes: Bug#594611)
+ Fixed dependency issue : lcl-units should not provide lcl-gtk.
