Bug Description

The usbtouchscreen driver seems to be loaded but the touchscreen does not respond to input at all.
Please see all the attached info.
I tried tutorials from different sites, like:
http://samiux.blogspot.com/2010/07/howto-ubuntu-1004-on-gigabyte-touchnote.html
The device is reported by lsusb and lshal as a GeneralTouch touchscreen, as stated here:
http://it.linux-usb.org/usb.ids
The vendor / dev id is : 0fdc:0001
0dfc GeneralTouch Technology Co., Ltd
 0001 Touchscreen

It is recognised as a dual input touchscreen in Windows 7.
Some extra info:
mypad@mypad-laptop:/usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.32-24/drivers$ lshal | grep -i win7
  info.product = 'Sensing Win7-TwoFinger' (string)
  input.product = 'Sensing Win7-TwoFinger' (string)

kernel stuff should be attached.

The problems seems to be that there is no input from the screen: i have been catting /dev/input/event* , but there is none that responded when i was touching the screen.

The machine is kind of a white brand thing. There are some drivers for ubuntu 8.04 - 9.10, but i could not get it to work on 9.10.
Those drivers are here, i am not sure if the match my hardware:
http://www.generaltouch.com/zmp/Download.htm

It includes source code.

If you need more info, please let me know!
Thank you for any efforts.

Hi Vincent,

If you could also please test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Jeremy,

For some reason I did not notice the request for updates.
Meanwhile, Stéphane Chatty developed a driver for my device.
Work is being done now to support the device in 11.04.
A bug started here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/utouch-grail/+bug/637106?comments=all
But now it is here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/utouch/+bug/662621

I posted the bug report because the exact same device id is already used by
the usbtouchscreen driver, but the screen does not work.
I believe Stephane knows how to address is, I do not know the current
status.

Can you please advice me on what to do with this bug report?

Kind regards,
Vincent
