Hmm, this seems strange.

1) Are there problems with any other application than Pidgin?
2) Is it reproducible with a 10.04.1 XUbuntu Live-CD?
3) Can you specify what you mean with "Latest dev ALSA"? How did you install it?

I only noticed no pidgin sounds, but they are working again now this minute. I did a clean install of Lucid. I installed ubuntu-audio-dev/ppa in software sources as was having trouble with no sound after hibernate/sleep & distorted pidgin notifications. It updates quite often.
