Bug Description

When you select "use entire disk", it would be useful if at the end, the installer would tell you the sizes of the partitions it is going to create. Several times I have found myself going back to change what the installer did (see e.g. #60511) and it would have been appreciated if I had found out much sooner that it would do something different from what I wanted.

This would be semi-useful behavior even when you partition by hand, just to summarize what you did.

I imagine this is technically a fairly easy thing to change, but I would personall regard it as important enough from a usability point of view that it could deserve a higher priority than "wishlist". Thanks in advance for considering this.

Thanks. I'm afraid it is a wishlist item :)

It may conflict with another design goal which is to keep everything as simple as possible for those who choose the automatic solution.

The best solution might be to add an option to the advanced partition that would suggest an automated setup for you and you could choose whether or not to go along with that.

I'm not sure I follow. If you don't know how large the partitions are, and they turn out to be too small, your installation will be botched, automatic or no. (Again, please see the description of https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/partman-auto/+bug/60511 for an illustration.) All I'm asking for is a small addition to the "what happens now" status box just before the disk is actually partitioned, indicating a little more detail.

Or do I misunderstand you?

Looks reasonable to me; this would need to be done in the confirm_changes function in partman-base/definitions.sh.
