volume ubuntu 10.04 lts crashed totally

Bug Description

HP DV4144cl using totally standard live cd for 10.04LTS Ubuntu. Nothing changed. Installed on HDD. Synaptic updates done over 2 weeks.Put Awn on from synaptic manager. Good, normal sound. Sudden Sound disappearance.
Error said list out of range ; and some trace # was 0.04 or o.4, I forget. Broken applet.
No sound in entire machine now. Anywhere. Not even an alert, or install ubuntu sound theme. All media formats dead.

Go to the menu, then Preferences > Sound. There you can restore the sound if necessary. This bug was fixed in revision 1295. Use testing PPA.

sound if necessary. This bug was fixed in revision 1295. Use testing
