You use a Geode CPU, which is not supported by maverick. Are you sure that you are installing the package in lucid, not maverick ?

Hi, :-)

I've got Ubuntu 10.04, and this is a Core 2 duo...

Thanks, :-)

Ah, I misread the dmesg output.

You should try to dpkg --purge the package, clean the apt cache, and
reinstall it.

Since you seem to be the only one affected, it's likely to be caused by
a corrupted file somewhere.

I tried the dpkg --purge and cleaned the apt cache but it still does not resolve the problem...

As a reminder, this problem originally occurred when my internet connection went down following a power outage during the upgrade from 9.10 to 10.04 (i'm on a laptop, so the computer was still working). I had to do a power off/power on to restart the system at that time...

If you're interested in any further details, please do ask...

Thanks for your great work guys, and more power...

What's the content of /var/lib/dpkg/info/libruby1.8.postinst ? is there something strange in it? What happens if you run that script manually?

Hi Lucas, ;-)

Thanks for your reply... No, it's completely empty...

It shouldn't be empty. Can you replace it with an executable file with:
#!/bin/sh

exit 0

in it ?

Hi Lucas,

I did as you suggested and the problem seems to be solved. The last
updates were installed with no error messages at the end.

Thanks for your help, Lucas, and a big thanks to all the people who
bring us Ubuntu. ;-)
