Bug Description

After boot from LiveCD, go on install, error reported after step 5 detected partition informationv

Thanks for your report. This is also bug 48732, and occurs due to strange model names on certain disks. This is fixed in dapper-updates, so you can work around it by upgrading all packages with 'ubiquity' in their names on the running live CD before starting the installer.

Thanks. I got around it by installing off the alternate install CD, so all
is well. :) Thanks for the feedback.

Dear Vassilis,

I had fixed this problem also. I have an external IEEE1394 Hard disk box,
the controller chip is prolific PL3507 with 80G Hitachi disk. The volume is
a one piece NTFS, but with some errors. If I turn on the hd box before
running installer, installer fail. However if I switch it off, installer
could proceeding. Then I turn on hd box any time without fixing error, it
still works as a USB plug icon on desktop.
