I'm sorry to hear Ubuntu One isn't working properly for you. Can you try the following and let me know the results?
1. Quit the Ubuntu One client. From the applet select Quit. Then open a Terminal (Applications > Accessories > Terminal) and run the following to quit the syncdaemon.

u1sdtool -q

2. Delete the old metadata. In a Terminal run.

rm -rf ~/.local/share/ubuntuone

3. Start Ubuntu One as you normally would Applications > Internet > Ubuntu One

You should be connected after you follow these steps. If you are not connected, can you please attach your Ubuntu One logs to this bug report? Please zip your $HOME/.cache/ubuntuone/log/ folder and attach the zip here.?

Thanks in advance!

I'll try to recreate it today. What info do you need?

Hi Mitch,

Followed the instructions in comment #2; as soon as I clicked on the applet icon, the crash-report box came up.

Attached are the log files. Several of them are from December, but I left them in the directory for the sake of completeness.

Let me know what else I can do to help diagnose this. I haven't had access to my laptop for a few weeks but have it back now, at least part time.l

Thanks,

Phil Walsh

Hi Phil.
From looking through your logs it appears that you have something wrong with your user configuration file. Could you please try removing ~/.config/ubuntuone/syncdaemon.conf.

1. Close Ubuntu One and run in a Terminal (Applications >Accessories > Terminal) the command.

u1sdtool -q

2. Delete the syncdaemon.conf file. You can do this manually in Nautilus (might need to use Ctrl + h to view hidden files to see .config folder) or you can run this command in a Terminal (Applications >Accessories > Terminal)

rm ~/.config/ubuntuone/syncdaemon.conf

Please advise if this helps with your issue. After making additional comments change the 'Status' of your bug back to 'New'. The status of a bug report can be modified by clicking on the current status in the yellow line, which will reveal a sub menu. You can then set a new status in the drop down box.

Thanks in advance!

a. when I ran the u1sdtool -q command on my laptop I got

ubuntuone-syncdaemon still running.

Ignoring this, I went ahead and removed syncdaemon.conf

After this I restarted Ubuntu One (Applications-->Internet-->Ubuntu One) and things worked as if I was just installing Ubuntu One for the first time. Namely, when I went to the web, the site asked me if I wanted to register that machine for Ubuntu One.

After that, things seem to be working again.

I tried the same steps on my desktop machine, and the client now runs, but I cannot "register" this machine as being connected to my Ubuntu One account and it does not show up on the website under "Computers connected to this account."

Hi Phil. I am glad to hear that the issue is fixed on your laptop.

As for the issue with your Desktop PC not registering, please try the following:

   1. Quit the Ubuntu One client
   2. Open Applications->Accessories->Passwords and Encryption Keys
   3. Click on the arrow next to "Passwords"
   4. Right-click on the Ubuntu One token and select "Delete"
   5. Go to https://one.ubuntu.com/account/machines/
   6. Click on the checkbox next to your computer
   7. Click the "Remove selected computers" button
   8. Open Applications->Internet->Ubuntu One
   9. A web page should open, prompting you to add your computer to your Ubuntu One account
  10. Add your computer

You should be connected after you follow these steps. If you are not connected, can you please attach your Ubuntu One logs to this bug report? Please zip your $HOME/.cache/ubuntuone/log/ folder and attach the zip here.?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Mitch--Went through steps in the comment above (with the exception of steps 6 and 7, which I skipped because the only machine listed was my laptop). When I started Ubuntu One in step 8, I got the expected "add this computer" screen. Now all seems well.

Thanks for the help!

Administrative question: do I "close" this bug, or do you?

Thanks,

Phil Walsh
