Bug Description

On a PowerBook Titanium FireWire G4 500 MHz, 1 GB RAM Mac with ATI Rage M3 8MB, ROM 113-XXXXX-119,
LCD-screen 1152 x 768 32 bit, no Quartz Extreme, running perfectly Mac OS X 10.4.11,
versions 0.10.5 and 0.10.4 for Mac blink at a rate of 2-3 x / sec,
means, star screen builds up and up again and up again and up again while starting,
there is no way to stop or interrupt it without force quit.
(Starting process and blinking e.g. rebuilding screen, is much faster on 0.10.5 than on 0.10.4)

Thnx and good luck!

It kept freezing time up on 0.10.2, 0.10.3, and messed up of words on 0.10.4 and 0.10.5. I kept it up and down between 0.10.2 and 0.10.5. Although, I have noticed that there was the annular solar eclipse, which was visible to Longmont, and whole of Colorado, it happened on December 18, 716. Also, I noted that total solar eclipse was visible to Longmont, on July 29, 1878, and should be visible on July 22, 2772!

Once the app starts fully, does this stop? Or continue? If it stops, what is the fps reading towards the bottom of the screen?

As far as I can see, the app starts fully,
then buids up the screen, first stars, then light,
then ground, but then the screen is rebuild.

In 0.10.5 I can even move the cursor on sky objects
and see the different data-base descriptions on the upper left corner,
mostly one new, until the screen is rebuild again,
but without seeing the curser.

At the end of each cycle, I can literaly see
how the ground is created vertical pixel line
per vertical pixel line from the left to the right.

When this is finished, the screen is some kind of blocked
for a few seconds, then the stars disappear
and the screen is rebuild again.

As 0.10.5 builds up and cycles much faster than 0.10.4,
you must have optimized things that enhance speed.

This means, it's not due to the performance of my Mac
but to the optimization of the screen cycling of the software
and you already seem to have done things to enhance displaying,
so you already are on a right way...

Best regards,

Hartmut
