Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

1. I wanted to take a file from a friend of ICQ. The format and file size is not important. Its just sent directly.
2. I was expecting a dialog box appears, and that I can download the file.
3. In return, I received a plain text message in your chat window. I noticed that the text represents an html code inside it was the file name and appears to be the size (<S> Figures </ S>). I used a completely standard setup of Ubuntu 4.10.

PS That's all I can tell. Sorry for bad English!

There is still not enough information to try to reproduce your issue, or find a possible cause.
First of all, please tell us what program where you using.
Then, please paste the full text you are receiving instead of the file transference. You said you have a screenshot. That will help, please attach it.

Finally, please answer these questions:

* Is this reproducible?
* If so, what specific steps should we take to recreate this bug?

This will help us to find and resolve the problem.

Thanks. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this bug as a bug in empathy.
(With many applications, you can report a future bug directly on the appropriate package by opening the application's "Help" menu and choosing "Report a Problem". https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs)
