Bug Description
Running Ubuntu 10.4, 32 bit, netbook version.
When trying to *install* mplayer from the Ubuntu Software Center it requests for my password, which i then apply, and after that the following request pops up: "Authentication is required to install software package"
The choices are to Authenticate or Cancel. Neither buttons respond except the X on the top right corner to close out. The install is never started.
Also had the same problem when trying to *uninstall* Rythmbox Music Player.

Hello, I also seem to have this problem - if you're a sophisticated user, could you try to look at bug 499937 to find out whether it's the same as that bug? In that case, both bugs could be merged.
