Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

When I try to insert a movie clip into an ooimpress presentation, impress "hangs" temporarily on the file-picker. Then it ends up popping back to the "Normal" view but with the video clip showing the icon (of a speaker?) that I have come to associate with a broken link to a movie. The movie will not play. Furthermore, opening any file with an inserted movie causes impress to respond very sluggishly (~4s delays) to mouse clicks and any attempt at editing the file (although sometimes it seems to be able to get itself out of this problem, at least until I click on a slide that has video in it).

Using kubuntu 32-bit. This may be related to bug #575237, but because that was for 64-bit and the description is slightly different, I thought it would be better to file this as a separate report. (In particular I can not find a single movie file format that plays correctly, so making a .mpg as suggested in that report does not help.)

The following error messages appeared on the command line (note I installed the ibus package manually, it was not installed by default):

Bus::open: Can not get ibus-daemon's address.
IBusInputContext::createInputContext: no connection to ibus-daemon
