package policykit-1 0.96-2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

This occurred during an upgrade from 9.10 to 10.04. It happened during the install process so I am not really sure how to duplicate it. I am using a Thinkpad T61 installing and running from a 8GB usb thumb drive. Ethernet connected at the time of the upgrade.
