Bug Description

Binary package hint: xorg

Often, the X-server crashes during the boot. Sometimes I only have a VT and sometimes even nothing (blinking cursor). I have to re-boot until it works (up to 3 times).

End of /var/Xorg.?.log says (full attached):

==============

It seems to be a random probing error, but 100% guessing here.

Also, if relevant, I never have a graphical boot even when GDM show up eventually: blank screen with blinking cursor, boot screen flash (low resolution, mine is 1920*1200) and then GDM in correct resolution.

No problem so far after correct start-up.

- Same problem with nvidia-173/nvidia-current (195.36.15)
- On-board 6150

I should have added that it was working fine with 9.10.

Yes, this bug is with Lucid (clean install). But I can no longer reproduce it since I've had the possibility to swap with another motherboard. But it seems that I was not alone...

Its so annoying to see the graphic drivers problem in a LTS version of Ubuntu ... I hope that there would a fix in any one of the update in future.. though there is a fix now (to install latest version of graphic drivers).
