This generally indicates that you have a bad CD burn. Please verify the checksum of the ISO you downloaded (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM), then try burning again at a slower speed or use a USB disk.

Yes, indeed the cd must be bad because I had another error saying exactly this (bad cd or bad hard drive). Is it generally ok to run the OS from a usb2 stick for audio projects? I am asking because usb2 is 60MBps compared to 150MBps of sata1. For recordings I use a separate hard drive.
