Can you let us know if your computer has any trouble detecting other electronics that connect via USB?

Hello. thanks for quick response. The computer with Ubuntu 10.04 Beta
will recognize other USB electronics that are connected, including
Android phone, camera, flash drive. The computer will not recognize
Linksys wireless A/G USB adaptor. The USB port is operating properly.
When I connect the Linksys wireless A/G USB adaptor, there is a power
light, however, the "link" indicator light does not come on. The
adaptor worked properly with Ubuntu 9.10. Thanks.

Thanks for reporting this to Ubuntu. This does not appear to be a
Firefox issue, so I'm removing Firefox from the report.

Can you let us know if your computer has any trouble detecting other
electronics that connect via USB?

Thank you for the response. You mentioned that you are using the Ubuntu 10.04 Beta. We are not up to the Release Candidate, so can you please ensure that your computer is fully up-to-date and let us know if this still happens? You can update your computer by running the following command:

sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

Thanks. Have run update/upgrade commands per instructions:
sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
1. Computer #1 will recognize other USB electronics that are connected, including
Android phone, camera, flash drive. The computer will not recognize Linksys wireless A/G USB adaptor. The USB port is operating properly. When I connect the Linksys wireless A/G USB adaptor, there is a power light, however, the "link" indicator light does not come on. Computer will operate with ethernet connection. The wireless adaptor worked properly with Ubuntu 9.10.
2. Have now tested the wireless adaptor on a Computer #2 running 10.04 and this computer will also not operate the adaptor properly. As on computer #1, the power light will turn on, however, the link light will not turn on and computer cannot operate the wireless adaptor. Internal wireless adaptor is working fine on computer #2.

Thank you for making sure your system is updated. Can you please clarify whether or not the Network Manager is able to find any wireless networks when the adapter is plugged in? It sounds like nothing happens on your system when the adapter is plugged into the USB, but I just want to make sure I understand correctly.

The Network Manager is not able to find any wireless networks when the wireless a/g USB adaptor is plugged into the system. also, at system startup, if the adaptor is already plugged in, the Network Manager is not able to find any wireless networks. the system does not seem to recognize the adaptor. all other USB devices are recognized. Thanks.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Please execute the following command, as it will automatically gather debugging information, in a terminal:

apport-collect 569207

This will help us to find and resolve the problem. Bear in mind that you may need to install the python-launchpadlib package from the universe repository. Additionally, when prompted to give apport-collect permissions for Launchpad you will need to give it at least the ability to "Change Non-Private" data as it will be adding information to your bug report. Thanks in advance!
