i need to start sysprof from command line

Indeed, sysprof in edgy comes with no .desktop.

Attaching a .desktop. It seems that the package is unusable at the moment because it requires a sysprof-module that modprobe wouldn't find.

Vassilis, you need to install sysprof-module-source and follow the instructions from /usr/share/doc/sysprof-module-source/README.Debian

You might also want to subscribe to bug #30160 which is about "support sysprof out of the box".

Shouldn't there already be GNOME and GTK+ categories in the sysprof .desktop file? And (though a bit more advanced) a mime-type for the stored profiling information?

It'd be nice to get this upstream, so we can get translations for the desktop file easily.

About the patch: I changed it to say ubuntu1 instead of build2 - it's not a mere rebuild but a change we will have to carry around. I'll upload it.
