Bug Description

Binary package hint: thunderbird

Since the latest update in the past day, thunderbird won't start at all. I'm using Ubuntu 10.04.

I saw other bug reports but they weren't the same: turning off compiz didn't workaround the issue, and trying repeatedly to start it didn't work.

Starting thunderbird in the terminal, it just immediately exited with no message.

I see now instead of a .mozilla-thunderbird folder (like I had before, or at least in 9.04), there is just a .thunderbird-upstream folder. My profile folder is in there.

I don't know if bug #558620 is a duplicate of this then, or if that bug fix (just released today) is what *caused* my issue.

There was a protected broken link file called .thunderbird in my home folder, and one called .mozilla-thunderbird. I deleted both and renamed the .thunderbird-upstream folder to .mozilla-thunderbird and it appears to be working now.

I'll go ahead and mark this as a duplicate of the other one.
