xvnc sound confused

Bug Description

Sound in a
        root@LakeNap:~# cat /etc/issue
        Ubuntu 9.04 \n \l
with xvnc setup.
Console sound and xvnc sound become confused. xvnc mutes sound
then un-mutes but nobody's got sound. alsamixer shows master turned off.

Hmmm, i's odd that it was mis-filled in Firefox when it's an xvnc problem.
