Bug Description

Binary package hint: dolphin

Description: Ubuntu lucid (development branch)
Release: 10.04
Dolphin
Version 1.4
Unter KDE 4.4.2 (KDE 4.4.2)

Whenever I open a dolphin window it opens a second one, as 'ghost window' I attatch a screenshot. I can close that 'ghostwindow' normaly by clicking on the right icon and work normally then with the other one. but its boring.

There seems also be a problem with the caracterset of dolphin. I had downloaded sth witch was unpacked automaticly. Now there are some chars marked as '?' in file- and directory names. if i try to rename, delete, move or copy those files or dirs there comes errors like 'file not found'

I tryed to open dolphin with another user account. at least the problem with the ghost window does not occour there. Another problem of my useraccount seems to be, that I cant logout, restart or shutdown the system from the k-menu. Whenever I try it, nothing happens. on another user account that workes normally too.
I found that passage in german user fourum ubuntuusers: http://forum.ubuntuusers.de/topic/kubuntu-reagiert-nicht-auf-herunterfahren/

Last sentence means, that kde get problems with file or folder names when you change UTF-8 to ISO-8859-15. I does not do that knowingly, but the problem with the shutdown menu is since I reinstalled lucid from beta 2 disc.

Maybe you can tell me, witch settings I have to reset to fix my problem. (Please dont tell me to delete the hole .kde folder :-/ )
Thank you!

Ok, the ghost window problem is a settings problem. I delete all files in ~/.kde/share/dolphin and restart dolphin. now there is no ghost window anymore. but i think its interesting to know by witch settings the problem is caused.
