Audio doesn't work in alex4 due to missing alex4.ini

Binary package hint: alex4

I've just installed alex4 (Alex the Allegator 4) via the Software Centre in ubuntu 10.04, but there is no sound. Sound is working in other programs however. There are credits when exiting the game for sound fx and music, so I'm fairly certain there should be sound.

The game doesn't appear to have any options to change the sound volume so I'm not entirely sure what is going on. The man page doesn't seem to mention any sound options either.

This is because the config file is missing. For some reason it's in the wrong place and doesn't get packaged.

This is my alex4.ini. It goes in ~/.alex4.

Thanks John, that fixes this problem. I guess the bug is that alex4.ini isn't packaged then.

If you're frustrated with the above not working, go to Synaptic package manager and install liballegro4.4-plugin-alsa. That is what's missing for this package. If you've got the most recent version of Alex4, leave your .ini file as-is.
