Bug Description

Binary package hint: compiz

When trying to start compiz the message is:

Couldn't find a perfect decorator match; trying all decorators
Found no decorator to start

When trying to set normal effects at Appearance Properties, the window behaves like in this bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/554106 but compiz is not started.

OK, compiz was not installed by default or was removed before by an update.

Changed in compiz (Ubuntu):

Happened to me too, while it was working before. Got it working again after following the hint in #216204: apt-get install compiz compiz-gnome

So perhaps this should be noted as a duplicate of that bug.

One of the 'apt-get dist-upgrade's of last week must have caused it. I didn't notice it until after a system reboot.
