Bug Description

Binary package hint: telepathy-butterfly

Under Beta 2, Ubuntu 10.04;

As near as I can tell, Empathy had gone offline - that is, all contacts were dimmed out. So I thought, perhaps if I change my status to offline as well then back to online, it will reconnect. Instead a string of telepathy and mission control errors popped up. This one seems to have been the most common.

could somebody having the issue add an empathy debug log, you can get it in the help, debug dialog by selecting butterfly in the combo, check for informations you don't want to share before adding it there though and clean those or just copy the chunk before the crash

I was talking to a friend of mine, he tried to send me a file. No popup or anything trying to show me that I'm getting anything. Not that I really think that had anything to do with it, as I have gotten this several times without doing anything at all.

Will happily provide any information needed if someone can tell me where and how to find it.

@Robert: I think we can safely say it wasn't the instant messaging module (Empathy) in Ubuntu that 'fried your hard drive'. Suggest you consider opening up a separate bug that's related to the issue you experienced.
