Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better, however the report is missing some information, may you please run rhythmbox as: rhythmbox --debug &> rhythmbox-debug.txt ; perform the steps to reproduce the bug and attach that resulting log file to the report? Thanks in advance!.

status: New → Incomplete

Hi Donald,

Because you mentioned that you are a first time user of Ubuntu I'd like to welcome you to Ubuntu and also provide a little assistance for you.

You mention the cd is stuck in the player. Do you mean that you cannot get the cd out of your computer when you press the eject button? If this is true you might want to try restarting your computer. After it restarts you should be able to press the eject button on the cd-drive of your computer... wait about 5 seconds... and the drive should open and give your disc back.

If, after getting the disc back, you would be so kind as to recreate this bug so we can figure out the problem it would be most appreciated. We will need you to follow some "out of the ordinary" procedures so we can collect debugging information.

1. Open a terminal. Do this by clicking (at the top left hand side of your screen) "Applications", then click "Accessories" then click "Terminal". A terminal window will open. Please complete steps 2 & 3 inside this window.

2. Type the following without quotes "killall rhythmbox" then press enter
3. Type the following without quotes "rhythmbox--debug &> rhythmbox-debug.txt" then press enter

Now rhythbox should start. Please insert your cd and/or do whatever you did originally to create this problem.

4. Once you have recreated the problem, then close rhythmbox, then you may close the terminal you opened.

5. A file was created when you did step 3. It is named "rhythmbox-debug.txt" Now you will need to attach that file to this bug report. Please visit this bug report on the launchpad website and click "Add attachment or patch". Then click the "browse" button and look for the file named "rhythmbox-debug.txt". Click on that file, then click "open". Finally, click the "post comment" button to upload this file.

Thanks for your help. Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.

We are closing this bug report because it lacks the information we need to investigate the problem, as described in the previous comments. Please reopen it if you can give us the missing information, and don't hesitate to submit bug reports in the future. To reopen the bug report you can click on the current status, under the Status column, and change the Status back to "New". Thanks again!

Dear Kamusin:

Thank you for your message and your attention to my report.

The bug has apparently been repaired with information I got from Ubuntu. So, closing this bug report is appropriate.
