Hi,
I get this error in dmesg.

I have an Intel 975XBX M/B with a nVidia 7600GS card in it.

I get an error for each of the three VGA cards in the 3 PCIe slots and I am wondering if this is why my multiseat is extremely unstable (hangs after a few minutes, etc).

Could be similar to bug #26521

I have the latest 1334 BIOS on the M/B
I'm using ubuntu dapper and uname -a gives:

Can you add "acpi=off" to boot parameters and check whether the problem occurs ?

Hi - Sorry for delay - had to wait until lunchtime before I could boot
the people off the PCs and re-kick them :-)
(I have 4 of these PCs in production, all with the same problems).

Hi Guys,

Any further ideas?
I really need to sort this out.
Is it a linux/boot issue?
Buggy BIOS?

If someone could please give me a clue as to what to swopout or do to try tonarrow down the cause....

I think this bug is ongoing. So please keep it open! There is A LOT of people having this error message. Please see ubuntu forums: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=415239 - This is just one of the MANY open and apparently unsolved issues.

If you are receiving this (or similar) error message but it appears to be causing no ill effects then this is the bug report you are looking for:
Bug #159241
The several comments I read on the forum you linked to above indicate this is an error message with no ill effects.

It appears from the upstream commentary that it has to do with BIOS resource allocation double-up which has no ill effects but the Linux kernel correctly notes the issue during boot up. While this is not a Linux bug the devs appear to be lowering the error reporting level so that normal users don't see this message. The message will probably not appear in Hardy.

This bug ( Bug #55416 ) hasn't [yet] been marked as a duplicate of Bug #159241 because the original reporter (Zoltan) had a system stability issue with regard to a very specific system configuration. It's not clear yet whether Zoltan's reported error message is related to Zoltan's instability issues or not.

I have given up worrying about it - but I have to confess it would be nice to know the exact cause, in case it really is causing performance or other hidden problems.

I am running 8 3-seater multiseats that are (by now) pretty stable - and still on ubuntu 6.06 (on all but 1 of the boxes).

So, please don't close this as it really should be explained or sorted out.
