Bug Description

Similar issue as in bug 553609:

I'm trying to netboot a system (in this case, a Toshiba NB200) which uses the r8169 driver to handle its network card.

The system boots from the network successfully and properly loads the kernel, but fails to detect the NIC from inside the initrd image if booted from the daily lucid desktop image (20100401).

The system boots completely and completes the installer when started using the daily server image.

I will be adding the output of 'uname -a', /proc/version_signature, 'dmesg' and 'sudo lspci -vnvn' as soon as I can get them.

Hi Mathieu,

Yes, please post the additional logs when you get the chance.

Could you also clarify if the network works properly post install for the installation started by using the daily server image. Thanks.

In this case I booted the system from USB to get to an usable system so I could retrieve the attached output of 'lspci -vnvn': the installation seems to hang in the middle of retrieving or configuring packages using alternate or server daily images. I will attach the other logs as soon as possible.

Marking invalid: the r8169 driver detects the device without issues, it seems it's more a matter of performance issues.
