Bug Description

I'm trying to netboot a system (Eee PC 900) which uses the atl2 driver to handle its network card.

The system boots from the network successfully and properly loads the kernel, but fails to detect the NIC from inside the initrd image if booted from the daily lucid desktop image (20100401).

The system boots completely and completes the installer when started using the daily server image.

Attached is the output of 'lspci -vnvn'.

Hi Mathieu,

Is the network card detected and work properly post installation in the successful scenario given above?

Yes, in ubuntu-server it works fine. It is actually how I retrieved the
information attached.

Ameet, the system also boots and recognizes the network adapter properly in today's alternate image, but still fails with today's desktop image.

Mathieu,

Is this problem present in the lucid release image?

I can confirm this issue is still present, we're trying to install Lucid on this machine (using 10.04.1), the desktop image still doesn't install.

Using the alternate image works as expected.

Let me know if we can provide more information.

This issue still present as of Lucid 10.04.3, the system needs the alternate image to install, as the desktop one fails as mentioned previously.

Moving back to last status of Triaged :)

Just out of curiosity, does this issue still exist for Quantal? I'm removing the rls-q-incoming tag for now until we have confirmation.

Hi Leann,

I just tested and the Quantal desktop installer boots up and works just fine, so the issue is not present on Quantal anymore.

Of course, we have to use the i386 installer rather than 64-bit as the CPU doesn't support that.

Thanks!
