Bug Description

Binary package hint: empathy

When status is "available", status messages work fine (although it would be nice if web addresses would be clickable in status messages), but when status is set to "Busy" or "Away", the custom status message does not appear, although it was freshly set.
Note: the same problem is occures with Pidgin. Is it a coincidence, or it is not because of the IM client?

Thanks for your bug report and helping to make Ubuntu better. I believe this is fixed in the most recent version of empathy. Please try installing empathy from the telepathy PPA at https://edge.launchpad.net/~telepathy/+archive/ppa?field.series_filter=karmic and verify that it is.

Thank You very much for the quick answer. I wasn't able to download the
newest version, that You linked me to, but i will wait till the 10.4
appears, and i'm pretty sure, it is included, and will work.

May God bless Your work and Your life!

Hi!

The empathy version included in 10.4 beta2 isn't the newest one? Because it
also has the above mentioned problem. When changing status to busy, i cannot
set a custom status message. I mean i can do the procedure, but the message
shown is still "Busy".
Please, check.
Thanx.

If I understand you right, this means you can see your own status message, but your contacts can't see it, right?

I have this same problem on MSN and Yahoo! protocol, but nothing is wrong with gtalk.

Are you still having problems with this on 10.04 Lucid Lynx? If so, can you include detailed steps to reproduce this problem? Thanks!
