Bug Description

Binary package hint: compiz

If you use F11 with Firefox, it goes fullscreen. Pressing it again restores the window. This is okay.

But if you go fullscreen and quit (ALT F4), the next time you start Firefox you will have a problem; it will be fullscreen, but when you try to restore with F11, the window title is under the gnome panel.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. When you test it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running apport-collect <bug #> and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.

I can confirm that this issue persists on Ubuntu 11.04

Hi, Jarlath. Can you test this bug on Ubuntu 11.10?

I think you will be pleased to know that this issue does not happen for me on 12.04, the next development release of Ubuntu.

Do you think you could give it a test and confirm that it is indeed fixed?

At present, I don't have time to install 12.04. I could virtualize it on
11.04 though, would that be sufficient?

There's no need to install 12.04. You can download a livecd and test from that.

Though I'm assuming that virtualizing it would be no issue (assuming that ubuntu 3D/Unity3D is running without issue in the virtualization software).

After several attempts to get 12.04 to install on virtualbox, I finally got it to install without the installer crashing near the end.

It seemed to be okay with 12.04, but to be sure I asked another 12.04 user ( http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1927859 ) and they confirmed it for me (thanks Greg).
