Applications all closed on wake from sleep/hibernate

I have Mint 8 64. This has happened in the last few days/week or so.
It was working fine before then.

From both Hibernate and Suspend, none of the apps I had open now are still running when I resume.

Can you reproduce the problem? If so, what are the steps involved?

Correction - suspend seems to be fine (which is actually quite cool as I haven't been using it because my network connection used to die)

However, I can replicate the issue with Hibernate. Menu - Quit - Hibernate. Restart takes some time (my perception is that it is longer than a restart from Shutdown, by I may be wrong) then comes up with no apps open.

I can live with it, if Suspend functions, as that is much faster to start up.

Changed to 'recomended' driver for my graphics card (don't recall moving from it...but there we go). Suspend now completely reliable, but hibernate doesn't work at all.
