Hi,

Please update your debdiff for the latest Debian version (6.0.4-4), as according to the changelog, it may change it:
" * Added patch from Ubuntu for checking if faxgetty is started via Upstart.
  * Added complete fontmap paths in hyla.conf for all Debian and Ubuntu
    versions.

Bhavani, any chance to update the debdiff as requested by fabrice?
It's worth an SRU in lucid since the package is uninstallable

Hello

This bug does not happen when you first install hylafax-server. It happens (verified on 1 production and 1 test machines) when you uninstall and install.

On one of the machines it happened when I unistalled postfix-dovecot (which in turn uninstalled hylafax...). Dovecot (not authenticating properly before the uninstall) does not run either after the re-install.

* Starting IMAP/POP3 mail server dovecot
Fatal: listen(0.0.0.0, 2000) failed: Address already in use

This is so severe that I do not recommend Lucid to be used on a production system, normally the only fix fior this is re-install the OS, there are too many problems.

These two bugs should be corrected in a hurry.

Best regards

Antonio

Hello antonio,

Does this symptom still exist in maverick package?

hello

Keeping away from maverick, trying to install a reliable lucid-server system. Applied the diff (as per https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuPackagingGuide/BuildFromDebdiff?highlight=%28debdiff%29) and the problem remains. At the end of the install the process enters an infinite loop asking for area code [ ]. This is serious.

Going to re-install the entire system again and do not uninstall...

Cheers

Antonio

I believe that the problem here is that Ubuntu took a broken version from Debian and released it. The Version for Debian stable doesn't present this prolem, so this cannot be fixed in Debian package. What I suggest to Ubuntu developers is to change the init.d file from any 6.0.4 or 6.0.5 Debian version and use it in 6.0.3, releasing an updated Ubuntu package for Lucid.

Bye,
Giuseppe

so is it worth backporting the init.d file from debian stable and using it?
