Loading image in external viewer has file in /tmp

Bug Description

after scanning i find no intuitive way to save the image.
upon clicking "save as" in the main menu, "simple scan" scans again, instead of saving the scanned data.

after a short experimenting time i double-clicked the scanned image and found it to open up in an image viewer, that would allow me to save it.

unfortunately the image viewer, upon selecting "save as" from its own main menu, defaults to /tmp, which is very unusual and very unhelpful.

better would be, to offer my home folder, later to remember the last folder i saved an image in.

Ok, I have looking into to it and this seems to be a bug in gnome (eye of gnome at least shares this same behavior). We are using the gtk_show_uri () function which will open the default image viewer but provides no control over which folder that it is launched in and will default the save as dialog to.

We could either ask gnome about this or use a work around to solve this issue.

should we move this to "eye of gnome" for starters, and continue discussion
there?

Upon further investigation there is nothing we can do about this - eye of gnome or which ever image viewer we open chooses the default open file location solely based on the filename.

why not set "create new.." as default option for saving the image data to a
file, then creating that file in the users home folder?

The only real solution I see here is if the files are saved automatically to ~/Pictures/Scanned Images etc.
