Bug Description

When I boot up Lucid Lynx Beta 1, I get a brief FSCK notice (a couple of seconds) then the them music plays within 15 seconds with just the purple themed background. Suddenly after 25 seconds all of the menus appear and all seems well. My motherboard is a Gigabyte 945GZM-S2 (rev 3.9) with onboard graphics that works perfectly with Karmic.

Thanks for your help. I first noticed this problem mentioned in the Subject during the
initial install of Lynx Beta 1 then turned off Compiz via this way below:

System>Preferences>Appearance>Visual Effects is set to None.

The problem still persists as of 30-3-10, 4pm Australian time with all of the latest updates.
I validated the original .iso via a MD5SUM as well before installing.

Haven't installed bootchart yet, might wait for some more updates to see if this
fixes the issue.

fixes the issue. Or should I go ahead and install bootchart, if that will help you folk?

Sorry for the double post, not sure how that happened.

After boot, just before I get to the purple theme background I get this notification:

mountall cannot connect to plymouth

then the default theme background appears and I can move the mouse but no menus appear. They take about 25 seconds to appear then Beta 1 works very well for me.

Same here.

Maybe not as long as 30 seconds but still very annoying.
The computer freezes , the disk stops spinning, I can only move the mouse pointer on purple them (my theme is black after login). Everything else comes to complete stop.
This happened with beta1 and clean install of beta2, with compiz and the initial login without compiz.

I have motherboard Gigabyte DS3 rev 3.3 and Nvidia GT 7600

Which test can I do to give you more detail?

Hello
Is this problem present with the latest updated Lucid's or Maverick's packages?
Thanks in advance

No, this problem doesn't seem to exist anymore. I think the work around was also to disable the floppy drive in the BIOS which helped too.

I am not using the same machine regularly now, after buying a new one a few months ago.

Cheers,
