Bug Description

Font_Handler::create_empty_sdl_surface hardcoded is hardcoded to create a surface with 16 bit depth. This will probably lead to slow conversions for displays that use other bit depths (by far most common is probably 32 bit).

I have to do a lot of changes to Font_Handler for the openGL code already. I will change the handling of surfaces.

Is this still the case? I think support for 16bit has been removed by now (see for instance bug 1245210).
