The graphics drivers, where this bug occurred, have been updated in version 2.6.32-16. Please test using the new kernel. If you are unable to reproduce the issue, mark the bug as invalid. Otherwise, please set the bug to "Confirmed" again.

Thanks

Nevermind, I see this is a bug found in the -16 kernel already.

I'm a mere user, I have no idea whether this is exactly the bug I have. But the title here is exactly the error message. When filling out the crash report, I listed "once a day". Actually, it seems to be happening every few minutes after the latest lucid update, as of half an hour ago.

I run 32-bit lucid, inside virtualbox 3.1.4.

Very sad. So far, it's been an amazingly stable alpha! :(

Don't know whether it could be related, but after the update and a restart, virtualbox guest additions no longer worked, so I reinstalled that and rebooted again, and that was when I noticed all hell breaking loose.

PS. I'm running 2.6.32-16, and have Intel graphics.

After the 03-11 kernel update (I think it was 2.6.32-16-25??) the constant crashes seemed to be resolved. However, as soon as I tried to implement vbox guest additions, they came back.

So, at least in my case, the problem has something to do with the interaction of the kernel and vbox guest additions. Without the latter, it seems to be quite stable.

I also have the same issue with the -16 kernel in Lucid (32 bit) running in VirtualBox 3.1.4 r57640

quixote, kenden, the 3.1.4 version of virtualbox is a non opensource version. We do not have a control on the non-free software and probably cant fix it. Can you however try the same with the virtualbox package that comes with Ubuntu i.e virtualbox-ose? I tried it with this and have not been able to reproduce the bug. Having said this, you might still see the bug. So please do let us know about it. Thanks!

In my case, the bug doesn't appear until I install Vbox Guest Additions. The non-free Vbox 3.14 itself is fine under the 2.6.32-16 32-bit kernel. So I'd be very surprised if vbox-ose showed any problems. I'll try to check it out.

Thanks Surbhi, I will try with virtualbox-ose
So I have also tried installing 3.1.2-1 virtualbox guest additions and get the same problem.

This issue seems very similar to 534733. Same problem?

Same problem here.

Runing:
karmic 2.6.31-20 64-bit as host
virtualbox 3.1.4
lucid-beta1 2.6.32-16 32-bit virtual machine.
