Bug Description

Hallo.

I have a svg file with document size 25mm x 25 mm.

So the dimensions are less of 1 inch.

If I try to print it, Inkscape wrongs because it prints as if it is a A4 size!!

If the dimensions are greter of 1 inch, it works right.

Could you help me?

Mario

Did you verify that this isn't a limitation/problem of the PDF printer software you are using with handling small paper sizes?

not reproduced with Inkscape 0.47 r22583 on OS X 10.5.8 when printing to file via the print dialog (tested with PDF and PostScript output): page size is respected for SVG document page size 25x25mm as well as 30x30mm.

(probably not related to your problem: the rendered page size of the test PostScript files depends on the viewer used - Apple's Preview assumes a default page size of US Letter, whereas GhostScript 8.70/GhostView renders the page bbox as the page size that was set in Inkscape).

Yes, regards PDF printer it could be a limitation paper size.

Now the problem with Zebra TPL and Avery 64-04 printer drivers is the same:

I choose File->Print, after I choose rendering Bitmap (200dpi for Zebra or 300 dpi for Avery) now I obtain that may parts of the printout are missing!

If I create pdf file from svg and I print it using Adobe reader, the printout is right.

So the problem seems to be from inkscape (size of the document 32mm x 13 mm).
Thanks.

The problem seems to be the orientation (Landscape) of the inkscape Property Documents.

Any suggestion about this?

Thanks

Can you attach a sample SVG file that exposes this error when printing with the bitmap backend?

Those are the steps to print a label 50mm.(width) x 15mm.(height) on a printer Zebra TLP2844-Z

The Prova.zip file contains the files mentioned here.

I print the Provastampa.svg (50mm.x15mm.) from File->Print label Rendering and set 200 dpi : see PrintRendering.JPG

After I select Zebra TLP2844-Z, in the file PrintPreferences.JPG you see what I obtain in the printer driver ( I think that you see 22,4mm because it is the minimun width label but it haven't to be a problem).

In the file Printout.JPG you see the printout result on the paper.

I hope that you understand my explanation.

Thanks for your help.

Mario

Instead, if I choose the orientation vertical on printer preferences,as in PrintPreferencesVertical.JPG, and I print, I obtain the printout that you see in PrintoutVertical.JPG.

So the data is shift towards right and some text is missing.

See Prova2.zip

Thanks a lot.

Could the " Bug #437550 Landscape PostScript output prints incorrectly" be related to may problem?

Thanks.

I don't think so - that report is about exporting to PostScript via the 'Save' dialog, not about directly printing from the print dialog: «Note that printing via the print menu works fine as gtkprint rotates the cairo context when landscape is selected.»

the shifting could be related to bug #508529 “Printing rastered image offsets the page” <https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/508529> which would have bigger consequences in your case since the page size is so small (if the offset is absolute and not depending on the page or drawing size). Did you try to use the vector backend when printing?

The problem was reproduced when I print using vector backend, too.

So I don't think that the shift to bug #508529 “Printing rastered image offsets the page” is correct.
