Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati

Every so often using Karmic, external monitor screen (mirrored to laptop screen) goes blank while laptop screen displays OK. I think that this may be happening when I move the mouse after a few seconds inactivity on my part. One thought is that the following part of the Screen Section (in xorg.conf) should not be commented out:
 # SubSection "Display"
 # Virtual 2048 2048
 # EndSubSection
I have the feeling that this was commented out when I was using Jaunty due to external screen mode display problem.

Is this any better with a newer version of xf86-video-ati (git master or 6.12.191)?

Hi John,

This bug was reported against an earlier version of Ubuntu, can you
test if it still occurs on Lucid?

Please note we also provide technical support for older versions of
Ubuntu, but not in the bug tracker. Instead, to raise the issue through
normal support channels, please see:

If you are the original reporter and can still reproduce the issue on
Lucid, please run the following command to refresh the report:

If by chance you can no longer reproduce the issue on Lucid or if you
feel it is no longer relevant, please mark the bug report 'Fix Released'
