Bug Description

Binary package hint: empathy

I started empathy for the first time (that I can remember) on this (lucid) computer. A wizard popped up asking if I wanted to add an existing account, create a new account, or just see people nearby. I selected add an existing account, then selected Google Talk, then entered my Google ID and password. I selected that I did had additional accounts to set up, then got the following error (after several seconds of the window being blank):
---
"There was an error while parsing the account details.

"The error message was: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.

"You can either go back and try to enter your accounts' details again or quit this assistant and add accounts later from the Edit menu."
---
I then pressed the Back button, entered my account details again, selected that I didn't have additional accounts, and pressed Next. On the next screen, I said that I didn't want to enable the local chat feature, and pressed Apply. Clicking the Apply button didn't do anything. After a few seconds, the window changed to the same error as above.

I then clicked Close. In the Empathy contact list window, I did Edit -> Accounts and ended up back at the wizard's first page, which didn't work any better the second time around.

Hmm. This doesn't seem to happen in a fresh new user account on the same system.

... and now appears to not be happening in the profile where it originally happened. Weird. I'll mark this bug as invalid, and reopen if the problem reoccurs.
