Bug Description

Binary package hint: xorg

ubuntu lucid alpha 3
xorg version: 1:7.5+1ubuntu9
happend with and without nvidia driver

X server restarted when I entered my password for the first time. It happened with the correct password and with wrong ones.
If gdm was set up to ask for passwd, x would restart when i entered a password at the gdm login.
If gdm was set up to log in automatically x would restart when I entered a passwd to unlock the keyring.
This happens only the first time I enter my passwd after booting.
It happens every time I boot

thanks
don't hesitate to contact me if further information is needed

Hi apanagio,

Please attach the output of `lspci -vvnn` and `dmesg`, and attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log (and maybe Xorg.0.log.old) file from after reproducing this issue. If you're using a custom /etc/X11/xorg.conf please attach that as well.

  • dmesg Edit (49.6 KiB, application/octet-stream; name=dmesg)
  • lspci Edit (15.7 KiB, application/octet-stream; name=lspci)

Hi Bruce,

It seems strange but I cannot reproduce the bug anymore. It used to occur
every single time. The only thing I changed was that I installed the
ltsp-server package.

unfortunately I don't have time at the moment to do a clean reinstall of
alpha 3 and try to reproduce. If however you consider this an important
issue please tell me and I'll do my best.

I attach the files you asked for in case they are of any use.

Please update your system fully, this was a plymouth problem that was fixed quite some time ago and it was pressing enter or 2 that triggered it. If with a fully upgraded lucid environment it is still happening please reopen this bug.
