X windowing prints dots on screen (both ubuntu-gnome and kubuntu)

PLEASE FORWARD TO CORRECT RECIPIENT. (is it possible to make changing package easier in Launchpad)

Windows littered with dots of different colors. This happens in ubuntu with both gnome and KDE.

Hi,

10.04 did not install at all on the computer, the installation hung, but
it might be that there were some error in the display adapter, can't say.
I have bought a newer model now. Sorry I can't be of more help.
