Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubiquity

Using the lucid 20100224 iso on a mini 10v with 16G ssd drive:
* boot in installing only mode under a french locale (not sure if those settings are revelant)
* select manual partitionning

the current partition table has a 24meg fat16 partition which seems to be a special dell one and an ubuntu 8.04.1 factory install

* delete the ubuntu partition
* create 2 new partitions, one for lucid and a swap one
* click on next

a dialog is displayed saying that ubi-partman failed with exit code 141

The bug seems similar to bug #525081

This bug was fixed in the package ubiquity - 2.1.27

---------------
ubiquity (2.1.27) lucid; urgency=low

  * Check whether choose_partition should be thawed when going back from
    scanning a non-resizable partition (LP: #527057).
  * devkit-disks was renamed to udisks; try to inhibit that first.

I rechecked todays live-daily, and it Ubiquity version is 2.1.33

Does that mean if I downgrade to 2.1.27 it will work ?

Not necessarily, but it does mean you should file a new bug report. There are many causes for this particular error, and the only way for the developers to know if it is the same is by examining your logs.

please start the installer with 'ubiquity -d' from a terminal window, and reproduce this problem. Once you've done that, please attach /var/log/syslog, /var/log/partman, and /var/log/installer/debug to the new bug report. It's important that you attach all those files.

Joyce: this bug has been fixed by the developers. Bug 525081 was marked a duplicate of this bug, which is why there are no comments there. If you are still experiencing this issue using the most current cd image, which is available at http://cdimages.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If you experience this issue with the current cd, you should file a new bug report.

Allright, I'll download today's version as soon as another download is finished. I have a hard time finding out where to start to search for/and fill in a bug report for another Ubuntu version. (Installing all bug-buddy's because "ubuntu-bug" command does not work in 9.10 UNR ! :red:)

Thanks for the tip.
