Bug Description

Binary package hint: gdm

Hi,

during one of the last updates, a new version of gdm was installed which prompts with a slightly different login window now. The new window has a title bar, a frame and even buttons to minimize the screen. However, since there no other windows in gdms login screen, neither the title bar nor the buttons appear to make any sense. Clicking the "Minimize" button, for example, will result in a "minimize" animation, however, the login window does not get minimized. Thus, I suppose that the title bar and buttons appear in the login window by mistake.

I will try to take a screenshot and attach it later.

Adrian

Another bit of fallout I think is related: the Firefox Echofon extension (for Twitter) now has a frame drawn around its popup that ignores all events sent to it, making the extension useless.

Echofon is *really* hacky, though, as I gather--it's had a number of focus issues on various platforms over its lifetime thus far.

When client side window borders are enabled, setting a window not to have decorations stops the client side decorations from being drawn, but doesn't seem to tell the window manager to not draw borders. Disabled, it still doesn't seem to tell the window manager not to draw borders. Window borders are also being drawn for all GTK_WINDOW_POPUP type windows, and it makes sense that the minimize button does nothing because GTK_WINDOW_POPUP windows are not managed by the window manager.
