Bug Description
Binary package hint: gnash
Gnash 0.8.7 was released. See http://
This package is not a copy of the debian gnash package, but is maintained in launchpad with bzr.
lp:~sindhudweep-sarkar/gnash/gnash0.8.7packaging has the changes necessary to package gnash 0.8.7
Benefits:
From upstream:
"Improvements since the 0.8.6 release are:
* Automatic and spontaneous screenshots support in all GUIs
* Significant memory savings in parsing large XML trees and in
some function calls
* Enhancements in video streaming
* Non blocking load of bitmaps, movies, data
* Refactoring to eliminate most static data and get closer to
re-entrant VM
* Cygnal now supports multiple network connections, handling
multiple video streams
* Cygnal now supports plugins for server side scripting in
C/C++ "
Gnash developers usually are more interested in bugs from recent versions of gnash. Packaging 0.8.7 in an LTS release means there is a greater chance that bugs can be relevant and forwarded to upstream.
Risks:
* ships new shared object library libgnashagg.
A package exists in the gnash team PPA that can be tested.
