Bug Description

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

It happens randomly, so I can't provide much info on this bug now.
But one thing I can tell for sure is that Rhythmbox almost always crashes when I move the volume slider at the lower half and only by mouse.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a ".crash" file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart.

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report you wish to submit.
If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using /usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

Well, I'm on Ubuntu 9.10 and have a computer of i386, I also experience this problem and I can describe it in details:
If you are not playing a track, you can move the volume control in rhythmbox's GUI up and down and it won't crash, but when you are playing a track, move the slider either up or down a little will cause rhythmbox to shut down, but itself don't regard it as a crash for I check my /var/crash dir and find nothing (I use Gnome desktop). Then I have to restart thythmbox again. Now when I'm playing a track and want to change the volume, I can only use hotkey -- ctrl + up and ctrl + down to control the volume or change the master volume of the system. So that's my observation and hope that could help the developers figure out what's the small bug that affects this.

Yes, I notice Pedro Villavicencio metions about Apport automatically handles a crash report, but as I say, no crash report could be found in /var/crash dir and I didn't get a crash report, so I can only report it here and hope you can see.

As BelleEsprit also confirms, there are no crash reports at all, that is the crash reports which are generated automatically when some apps crash.
All I could find was two lines in the messages log file(var/log) which seemed quite related to the problem on hand.Here they are:

{ Feb 28 18:12:17 mehrdad-desktop kernel: [ 7650.856088] rhythmbox[3173]: segfault at 0 ip (null) sp ad5f71bc error 14 in rhythmbox[8048000+6000]
Feb 28 18:14:12 mehrdad-desktop pulseaudio[1931]: ratelimit.c: 117 events suppressed}

Is that the sort of info you would regard as useful?

May be it's helpful to the developer but I can't get anything out there...
