Thank you for bringing this bug to our attention. However, a paper cut should be a small usability issue, in the default Ubuntu install, that affects many people and is quick and easy to fix. So this bug can't be addressed as part of this project.

- This is a bug ad not a papercut.
For further information about papercuts criteria, please read https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PaperCut.

Don't worry though, this bug has been marked as "Invalid" only in the papercuts project.

And Most probably a dup of Bug #392747

Is there an update on this bug? I am also finding my MSN account is not connecting and would be happy to gather logs as needed or even let you remote into my machine if needed...

I think that somehow, Empathy, or the combination of Empathy and the MSN
network rejected my password. I was able to access the MSN messenger service
through aMSN, for example, and Pidgin too, without any problems.

The problem dissapeared when i changed my password from a long one (17
characters) to a shorter one (just 11 characters). I am now able to access
the MSN messenger service with Empathy in Ubuntu 9.10, so If you have a long
password, you may want to try something similar.

I don't know where or how should I report these things. I'm a noob and this
is my first bug report ever.

there are a few bug reports about this, most likely duplicated ones...
I have Lucid amd64 and I'm also affected.
I'm not sure but it seams to happen when computer comes out of suspension.
the easy fix is to run "killall telepathy-butterfly" and then reconnect, it works, but it's a pain.

if it's fixed in Maverick can't it be backported to Lucid?
