Bug Description

My recent snapshot all have status 'Drivespace abort' in the snapshot browser. This is due to the filespace limit set (1GB).

But cleaning up extraneous shapshots using the snapshot browser does not clear up diskspace used in the TimeVault repo (/var/TimeVault in my setup).

In addition, I have the strong impression (not 100% sure) that some files have more snapshots than they should according to the Expiration rules. This could possibly be related to the failure of deleting snapshots.

Ah, forgot to say. I'm running ubuntu Intrepid (8.10), 2.6.27-16 kernel, and TimeVault 0.7.5-1 from the Ubuntu repo.

Can now add that the problem persists in Karmic (9.10), 2.6.31-20-generic, using timevault_0.7.5-1_i386.

Sorry to do this incrementally like this. But just to be explicit I'd like to add that this bug completely defeats the practical use of TimeVault. Right now, it happily fills my disk with snapshots (as it should) and then stops working when the diskspace limit is reached. Since the file deletion option does not seem to free any diskspace, this is a no-brainer.

Changed in ubuntu:

This app hasn't been maintained in years. Look into BackInTime for a backup
solution.

Thx. I just uninstalled TV, and freed 3.9G of snapshots in the
process... ;-)
