Bug Description

Binary package hint: sugar-web-activity

Hi everyone
I am working for the development of sugar.
I want to run SocialCalc on ubuntu. For this purpose I installed xulrunner, xpcom, hulahop and python-hulahop packages on ubuntu8.10, Installation of all these packages was successful.
Then i tried this command on python interpreter:

>>> import hulahop

which worked well. But when I tried ths:

>>> a=hulahop.webview()

this gave me an error message that object hulahop has no attribute webview.

Please help!

Hello, we are currently not supporting 8.10 packages because lack of resources , all the development is focused on 9.10

Mahesh,

Thanks for you bug report. I have been 'testing' SocialCalc by watching my nieces and their friends use it on XOs.

The bad news is that we currently don't have the developer time to maintain 8.10 while developing 9.04.

Please follow the instruction at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuSugarRemix for testing the newest release.

I have marked the bug as incomplete to indicate that we don't know if we will have the resources to get to the issues without compromising lucid development.

Hello
Thanks for replying,

Actually I also tried to run SocialCalc on ubuntu 9.10. But when I tried to
installed the xpcom package for this purpose then (since 9.10 has
python-2.6) it says that this package has unresolvable dependency on
python2.5. Since xpcom package will run only on python2.5. So I could not
even installed xpcom package. though I installed python2.5 in ubuntu 9.10.
But still I was getting same error while installing xpcom.

Please show me the way how can i successfully install xpcom package on
ubuntu9.10?
