There needs to be a data provider made for zeitgeist for netbeans for it to work. I dont think any of the developers will make this because its not a part of the gnome desktop but if you made it yourself we can help you. If you go to #zeitgeist on freenode they can help you make it.

Changed in gnome-zeitgeist:
status: New → Invalid
Markus Korn (thekorn)
affects: zeitgeist → zeitgeist-dataproviders
Changed in zeitgeist-dataproviders:
importance: Undecided → Wishlist

Another approach could would be to write a catch-all datasource based on Tracker's file change notifications: http://live.gnome.org/Tracker/Documentation/SignalsOnChanges.

The drawback here is that Tracker reacts to any file change, including the ones generated by the system. Monitoring the recently used files only gives us the files that are actually used by the user. In other words - Tracker notifications might give a lot of noise - but honestly I don't know if it's abig deal in practice.

This could be solved with Jason's GIO patch! But we can get to that later :)

That would require that Netbeans use GIO, or is there some connection I don't see?

AFAIRecall Jason's patch only allows one to hook into when .desktop files are launched via the GIO API. Not when programs modify/read files.
