Bug Description

Binary package hint: libusb

I have a Cricket A600 USB 3G modem that works great with the NetworkManager except for one thing.

Every time that I want to connect to the modem, I have to run usb_modeswitch. This has to be done every time that I connect the device, go standby/hibernate, or shutdown.

I later found out though that if I upgrade libusb to 1.0.6, it does this automatically, thus I think by Lucid libusb 1.0.6 should be packaged and included.

Thanks!

Which version of libusb? If it's really 1.0.6, where did you get it?

According to https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libusb the version of libusb in both Karmic and Lucid is 2:0.1.12-13.

Yes, it's really 1.0.6
The version in Ubuntu is 0.1.12-13
I got it from the libusb source project.

Here is their download page:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/libusb/files/libusb-1.0/

Thanks.

I found the 0.1.12 version in the LEGACY section of their directory tree. It seems they made a jump in version numbers from 0.1.12 to 0.9.0 and kept going from there.

Sorry about the bug noise.

I also think it would be a good idea to include the 1.0.6 version in Lucid.

I set this as fix committed because the newer version is already in Debian so by the freeze in Lucid it should be included.

It does since Debian release 1.1.0-1 (along with the introduction of usb-modeswitch-data). I filed a sync request under: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/usb-modeswitch/+bug/519216
