Binary package hint: unattended-upgrades
This concerns unattended-upgrades 0.52ubuntu1 in Karmic.
If u-u is in the midst of upgrading the system, and the user shuts down or reboots, the unattended-
If an upgrade is in progress, this logo-screen will appear for (potentially) a lot longer than it normally does, and with no indication as to why. The user may become impatient or confused, believing that the shutdown/reboot process has hung ("it never takes this long!") and may decide to "help" things along by reaching for the power button.
This is a wishlist item, that if u-u is delaying the shutdown/reboot process in order to install updates, that it explicitly inform the user of what is going on.
